About the position

Randstad Federal is seeking a Technical Project Manager to support a federal program at the IRS, located in Frederick, Maryland. This position is a contract role with a pay range of $70 to $80 per hour. The Technical Project Manager will be responsible for leading and managing AI projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The role requires a strong understanding of project management principles, particularly in an Agile environment, and a technical background in AI technologies is preferred. The Technical Project Manager will define project scope, goals, and deliverables, develop detailed project plans and schedules, and coordinate internal resources and third-party vendors. They will also be responsible for managing changes to the project scope, schedule, and costs, measuring project performance using appropriate tools and techniques, and reporting and escalating issues to management as needed. Risk management will be a critical aspect of this role, as the manager will need to minimize project risks and ensure resource availability and allocation. In addition to project management duties, the Technical Project Manager will create and maintain comprehensive project documentation, communicate project status to stakeholders and senior management, and track project performance to analyze the successful completion of both short and long-term goals. The role also involves developing spreadsheets, diagrams, and process maps to document needs, using and continually developing leadership skills, and attending conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage AI projects from inception to completion.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven working experience in project management.
  • Agile experience a must have.
  • Ideally some technical background/understanding of AI technologies.
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience with project management software tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in risk management and resource allocation.
