About the position

We are seeking a candidate to fill a full-time technical project manager position in our Westminster, CO Civil Construction Field Solutions division. This position will focus on managing engineering projects in the productization phase (NPI) and research phase (NTI). Candidates will work with cross-disciplinary engineer teams (HW, SW, FW, ME), product teams, and operations teams to move hardware and software projects through the Trimble process from idea to implementation to first customer shipment. Candidates should be highly process and people-oriented with an ability to influence others to get the job done. An agile mindset of continuous improvement is a must as is a proven track record of working with new teams to quickly move them through Tuckman's 5 stages of group development from forming to performing. The role involves facilitating the Trimble internal process, T5, used for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects involving hardware, firmware, mechanical, and/or kitting for hardware and firmware/software projects. Additionally, the candidate will facilitate the Trimble Learning Cycles process used for new technology introduction (NTI) projects. Participation in quarterly roadmap planning with product leadership is essential to ensure our roadmaps are aligned to our strategy and contain the information required to move to project execution. The candidate will act as SCRUM Master for new Agile development teams, helping to build trust, commitment, and accountability to quickly move teams from storming to performing. Regular project updates in an executive summary format that drives decisions and actions will be required, along with working with teams to develop and maintain schedules, budgets, and resource estimates that drive on-time and on-budget projects. Developing strong working relationships with key contributions and using influence, persuasion, and teamwork to drive results against clear objectives are critical aspects of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering projects in the productization phase (NPI) and research phase (NTI).

  • Facilitate the Trimble internal process, T5, for New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
  • Facilitate the Trimble Learning Cycles process for new technology introduction (NTI) projects.
  • Participate in quarterly roadmap planning with product leadership to align roadmaps with strategy.
  • Act as SCRUM Master for new Agile development teams, building trust, commitment, and accountability.
  • Facilitate project gate review meetings to seek stakeholder approval.
  • Provide regular project updates in an executive summary format that drives decisions and actions.
  • Develop and maintain schedules, budgets, and resource estimates for projects.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key contributions and drive results against clear objectives.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience working on engineer teams developing embedded systems using GNSS, IMU's, Lasers, or other technology used in positioning and control.
  • 5+ years in project management facilitating software/firmware and hardware projects.
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate status, risks, and recommendations.
  • Mastery of the Google Suite, Aha, and Jira.
  • Proficient in using scheduling tools such as Smartsheets to manage gantt charts.
  • Strong understanding of Agile development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Ability to quickly come up to speed on new products, projects, and technology.
  • Able to maintain and prioritize work effectively within and across multiple projects and priorities.
