About the position

The Technical Project Manager (PM) role is a long-term contract position responsible for the planning, management, documentation, and successful completion of IT programs and projects across various business units. The PM will oversee project participants, ensuring accountability and effective communication between customers and project teams, while also managing project deliverables, risks, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business customers to identify and coordinate new IT system development and enhancements.
  • Develop project plans including cost/benefit analysis, work schedules, and critical success factors.
  • Assign, schedule, review, and monitor project work to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.
  • Mentor and provide expertise to project team members.
  • Identify project team members and roles, and establish project reporting structures and training requirements.
  • Define responsibilities for the steering committee, executive sponsor, project lead, IT lead, development team, and end users.
  • Track, monitor, and communicate project-related issues, scope changes, and variances during the project lifecycle.
  • Create communication plans and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and project team members.
  • Manage the technical development process including systems analysis, technical design, coding, testing, and rollout.
  • Develop system review schedules, audits, and acceptance tests for each project phase.
  • Develop Requests for Information (RFI's), Requests for Proposals (RFP), evaluate responses, and lead vendor selection teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years of experience managing software/application development projects.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with IT and Business colleagues.
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop, lead, motivate, and supervise a working team.
  • Considerable problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with project management software like Clarity and Microsoft Project.
  • Formal Project Management Certification (PMP) preferred but not required.
