About the position

As a Technical Project Manager at Verizon, you will play a pivotal role in the proposal development and project management for the implementation of services won during the proposal cycle. This position is crucial for generating revenue and involves writing proposals for both existing products and services, as well as new customer applications that align with the company's objectives. You will be responsible for developing product enhancements to the department's existing suite of services and creating new standardized product offerings. This includes facilitating the creation of product descriptions and business models that support these offerings. In your project management capacity, you will lead cross-functional teams through all service implementation and product development activities. This involves orchestrating the activities of multiple functional disciplines to ensure the successful delivery of products and services to customers. You will synthesize complex customer business and technical requirements into manageable components, lead meetings with both internal and external customers, and develop comprehensive project schedules to meet deadlines. As the key point of contact for your programs, you will engage with customers daily, providing updates on project status, addressing technical issues, discussing pricing, and outlining schedule timelines. Your expertise will be essential in keeping customers informed about the products and services Verizon offers to meet their needs. You will also be responsible for leading work groups and developing broad programs or projects that support organizational strategies. Your role will require you to communicate and translate functional and operational goals into team objectives, manage the implementation of policies and procedures, and oversee all aspects of large project development and implementation. You will work independently or as part of a highly skilled technical team to fulfill complex business requirements, ensuring the implementation of reliable and efficient automated solutions. This position demands considerable judgment in developing methods and evaluation criteria to achieve project results, as well as the ability to resolve complex problems through creativity and in-depth analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for proposal development and project management duties for implementation of services won in the proposal cycle.
  • Generate revenue through proposal writing for existing products and new customer applications.
  • Develop product enhancements and new standardized product offerings, including product descriptions and business models.
  • Lead cross-functional teams through service implementation and product development activities.
  • Orchestrate activities of multiple functional disciplines to deliver products and services to customers.
  • Synthesize complex customer business and technical requirements into manageable pieces.
  • Lead internal and external customer meetings and develop comprehensive project schedules.
  • Serve as the key customer point of contact for programs.
  • Deliver customer and executive briefings on status updates, technical issues, pricing, and timelines.
  • Communicate and translate functional/operational goals into team goals and manage implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Oversee all aspects of the development and implementation of large projects, providing a single point of contact from concept to final implementation.
  • Work independently or as part of a technical team to fulfill complex business requirements with automated solutions.
  • Exercise considerable judgment in developing methods and evaluation criteria for project results.
  • Develop resolutions to complex problems requiring creativity and analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous program and/or project management experience.
  • Ability to pass an extensive background investigation as a condition of employment.
  • Willingness to travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • B.S. or B.A. degree.
  • Three or more years of program/project management experience.
  • Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
  • Strong financial acumen and technical understanding of telecommunications (voice, data, and/or IP networking).
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong understanding of systems development, database management techniques, and applications deployment.
