About the position

The Technical Project Manager at Syracuse Label, a division of NextGen Label Group, is responsible for providing technical expertise to support the company's technical strategy while managing various technical projects. This role involves conducting internal testing, collaborating with the Technical Solutions Manager, and ensuring successful project outcomes through effective communication and coordination with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal press trials and provide support for technical operations.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Solutions Manager to document Design of Experiment (DOE).
  • Identify materials and processes for research and development efforts.
  • Complete on-site testing and line trials at customer sites.
  • Manage customer application details and test requirements/preferences.
  • Conduct material testing and selection for various applications.
  • Assist quality control in evaluating material application deficiencies.
  • Support the sales department in a technical capacity as needed.
  • Visit contract packagers and customers to problem-solve and develop new solutions.
  • Lead and manage technical projects, setting quality and performance standards.
  • Coordinate and communicate with strategic vendors regarding solutions and timing of resources.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate production time for technical projects and tests.
  • Provide final summary report and recommendations for all technical experiments and tests.
  • Update material standards and internal databases regarding project outcomes.

Requirements

  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in technical project management and flexographic and/or digital printing.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Ability to train and instruct coworkers and customers.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Scrum methodology (1 year preferred).
  • Familiarity with pressure sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, and RFID labels.
