About the position

SS&C is seeking a highly-motivated Technical Project Manager to join our Professional Services Custom Engineering team. This role is pivotal in leading custom software development projects from inception to completion, ensuring that all projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in software development and project management, complemented by excellent communication and organizational skills. As a Technical Project Manager, you will collaborate closely with clients to understand their business needs and technical requirements, translating these into actionable tasks for a team of software developers. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the project planning and execution phases, which include developing project schedules, budgets, and resource plans. You will also be responsible for managing project risks and issues, developing contingency plans as necessary, and coordinating with other internal teams to ensure successful project delivery. This position offers a hybrid work model, allowing for flexibility in your work environment while maintaining a business casual dress code. Responsibilities

  • Leading project planning and execution, including developing project schedules, budgets, and resource plans
  • Communicating project status updates to stakeholders, including clients, team members, and management
  • Managing project risks and issues, developing contingency plans as needed
  • Coordinating with other internal teams and resources to deliver projects successfully
  • Working closely with clients to understand their business needs and technical requirements, and translating those requirements into actionable tasks
  • Ensuring that projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in software development and project management
  • Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) processes and methodologies
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficiency in project management tools, such as JIRA and Asana

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, and Python (intermediate to advanced)
  • Experience with project management methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum and Kanban
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
