About the position

The Technical Project Manager at BCforward is responsible for managing medium to large scale and technically complex product development projects. This role involves leading project teams from concept to post-release, ensuring effective project planning and execution, and collaborating with various stakeholders to meet project milestones and deliverables. The position requires a strong focus on scope control, schedule updates, budget tracking, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Manage medium to large scale and/or technically complex departmental and cross-functional product development projects.
  • Lead project teams from concept to post-release utilizing the company product launch process.
  • Facilitate development Blitz or brainstorming Kaizen events and chair project meetings.
  • Update task, budget, and resource progress on weekly schedule updates, and log issues, risks, and lessons learned.
  • Focus on scope control, schedule updates, budget tracking, and risk management throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product management, operations, supply chain, finance, and other stakeholders to prioritize project milestones and deliverables.
  • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, and daily task activities with follow-up to ensure timely delivery.
  • Lead weekly cross-functional project meetings and maintain minutes/notes/action items.
  • Gather feedback from project team members to track progress and mitigate risk.
  • Document project-related issues and risks in the risk database and escalate to sponsors and management as needed.
  • Prepare project status reports and facilitate technical and non-technical meetings to keep stakeholders informed.
  • Develop and maintain technical and project documentation, including project/process deliverables.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Engineering or other technical discipline from an accredited institution; MBA or advanced technical degree is a plus.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is desirable.
  • 5+ years leading cross-functional project teams without direct supervisory responsibilities.
  • 3+ years of engineering design or manufacturing experience in a medium to high volume production environment.
  • 2+ years of managing project teams developing consumer connected products, including hardware and embedded firmware, software, and apps.
  • Previous IoT connected product development experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience with consumer mobile apps (iOS/Android) related to hardware deployment is desirable.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and possess strong relationship-building communication skills.
  • Knowledge of product development processes (stage-gate, predictive, agile, and hybrid methods).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience in connected consumer product development.
  • Experience with cloud/server services and Wi-Fi modules.
