About the position

The Technical Project Manager will provide essential leadership on multiple medium and occasionally large internal IT or business projects. This role encompasses financial, scope, schedule, and risk management responsibilities, ensuring that all projects align with the company's strategy, commitments, and goals. The Technical Project Manager will create and execute project work plans, revising them as necessary to meet changing needs while adhering to established project management processes and methodologies. This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of business projects, ensuring consistency with the company's objectives. In this role, the Technical Project Manager will develop a comprehensive communication plan to maintain continuous communication with project team members, customers, and project sponsors regarding the project's status. They will identify the resources needed to complete work and collaborate with resource managers to assemble the appropriate skills, teams, and resources. The Technical Project Manager will manage issues, risks, and changes using the agreed-upon processes and tools established within the Project Management Office. Additionally, the Technical Project Manager will determine project schedules, identify critical paths, and potential risks while effectively applying and enforcing scheduling standards with project teams. They will forecast, manage, and report on project financials, including planned and actual project schedules and resource utilization, making informed decisions based on revenue models and cost-to-completion projections. The role also involves facilitating project reviews and providing information for audits, status reports, and executive review meetings. Ultimately, the Technical Project Manager is responsible for delivering medium and occasionally large projects on time, within budget, and meeting functional and quality specifications, while managing project expenditures for both forecast and actual capital budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership on multiple medium and occasionally large internal IT or business projects including financial, scope, schedule, and risk management responsibilities.
  • Creates and executes project work plans and revises them accordingly to meet changing needs and adapt established project management processes and methodology.
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and completion of business projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments, and goals.
  • Directs, manages, plans, and administers the operational and administrative activities of Information Technology and Business project teams.
  • Develops communication plan to provide continuous communication to project team members, customers, and project sponsors regarding the status of the project.
  • Identifies resources needed to complete work and collaborates with resource manager(s) to assemble appropriate skills/teams and resources.
  • Manages issues, risks, and changes using appropriate and agreed upon processes and tools established within the Project Management Office.
  • Determines project schedules, identifies critical paths and potential risks, and effectively applies scheduling standards with project teams.
  • Forecasts, manages, and reports on project financials, planned and actual project schedule, and resource utilization.
  • Facilitates project reviews and provides information for audits, status reports, and executive review meetings.
  • Responsible and accountable for delivering medium and occasionally large projects on-time, on-budget, and meeting functional and quality specifications.
  • Manages project expenditures both forecast and actual (Capital Budget).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Project Management certification or equivalent.
  • 7+ years in an information technology capacity with understanding of various technologies including applications, databases, networking, telecommunications, and connectivity.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Project Management role with a strong background in team development.
  • Experience leading small to medium-scale new application development or infrastructure deployment projects.
  • Experience with and knowledge of multiple systems development life cycles (i.e. Iterative, Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
  • Ability to lead a team and deliver all phases of complex systems assignments.
  • Expert level of proficiency in MS Office Suite of products (i.e. Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Basic familiarity with Clarity or other Portfolio/Program Management Software.
