About the position

The Technical Project Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of data engineering teams at a leading music streaming company. This position focuses on driving Agile-based processes to ensure predictable and quality delivery of data sets. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in communication, planning, and program management to facilitate collaboration across teams and manage project commitments effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and other Technical Project Managers to support Data development delivery.
  • Support the Data Org's work-intake triage process to ensure new requests are addressed in accordance with SLAs.
  • Set-up and ensure maintenance of Programs, Epics, and Stories in Jira to appropriately manage the team's work through to completion.
  • Help set project delivery commitments and determine impacts as a result of fluctuating priorities and resource availability.
  • Coordinate dependencies between teams with other TPMs.
  • Track and report team velocity and manage Sprint capacity to ensure the team is working efficiently towards delivery goals.
  • Resolve or escalate blocking impediments as necessary.
  • Organize and facilitate daily stand-up meetings, sprint and release planning, backlog grooming and refinement sessions, sprint demos, retrospectives, and other process meetings.
  • Coordinate teams in troubleshooting and resolving production support issues which require cross-team coordination, especially those impacting customers.
  • Work with Development managers to manage team capacity.
  • Coach the development team and stakeholders on following Data Org processes and practices and ensure they are effectively implementing them.
  • Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practices.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a Technical PM or Scrum Master role, ideally having experience working in a technically challenging and complex environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, BI or Analytics, or Software Engineering.
  • Experience simultaneously assisting multiple scrum teams distributed globally.
  • Expertise in Jira and Confluence, ideally with proficiency in advanced add-ins such as ALM Works Structure.
  • Experience supporting a cloud-based Technical data environment.
  • Experience working with enterprise data platforms, such as Databricks or Snowflake, and proficiency with using SQL to query large data sets.
  • AWS and Scrum Master experience.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to set informed delivery expectations based on complexity and team capacity and understand/communicate technical issues.
  • Familiarity with GitHub.
  • Comfortable dealing with multiple Jira tickets and delegating them to the correct teams.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with internal (25-30 teams) and external stakeholders/vendors.
