The successful candidate will be responsible for leading project teams, improving processes, managing project budgets, and effectively escalating issues or remediating risks as necessary. They will also be expected to provide comprehensive project documentation and meeting notes to ensure clarity and progress throughout the project lifecycle. Embracing best practices in project management, the Technical Project Manager will regularly update executive sponsors on project status and developments. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and a minimum of five years of experience managing projects of significant size and complexity. This includes expertise in project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting. A strong background in Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid project management methodologies is essential, along with proficiency in project management tools and the software development lifecycle (SDLC). The role demands strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to develop and maintain complex project plans with a proper work breakdown structure (WBS). Additionally, experience in managing people, change, risk, and conflict is crucial for success in this position. The Technical Project Manager will work closely with the UIT Project Management Office (UIT PMO) and will be involved in a variety of critical university-wide technology projects, including enterprise applications and system integrations across various domains such as collaboration, cloud services, data analytics, and information security. The role requires a high level of professionalism and independent judgment to balance the interests of multiple stakeholders while driving projects to successful completion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large and complex IT infrastructure projects including wired and wireless networks, telephony, A/V, cabling infrastructure, and cellular networks.
  • Lead and guide project teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including resource estimation and action plans.
  • Facilitate discussions and negotiations to achieve consensus among stakeholders.
  • Implement change management strategies and communication plans to support project success.
  • Monitor and control project risks, providing regular updates and reports to stakeholders.
  • Adapt to and utilize tools, methodologies, and practices used by the UIT PMO.
  • Assist with project intake processes and procedures, including demand management and resource planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Five years of experience in managing large and complex projects.
  • Proven experience with Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid project management methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience in developing and maintaining complex project plans with proper work breakdown structure (WBS).
  • Proven experience in people, change, risk, and conflict management.
  • Solid experience with Google Suite, MS Office tools, Smartsheet, ServiceNow Project Portfolio Manager (PPM), Zoom, and Slack.
  • Experience with Oracle E-Business Suite and PeopleSoft Student and HR Administration is desired.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.
  • Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) certification is preferred.
