About the position

The Technical Projects Program Manager for Global Real Estate & Facilities at Amazon is responsible for overseeing a team of technical project managers who manage a diverse portfolio of design and construction projects across North America. This role involves leading projects from inception to completion, ensuring that they align with Amazon's strategic goals in various advanced business sectors. The manager will coordinate with multiple stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery, resource allocation, and adherence to design guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of technical project managers across North America with ownership of projects from inception to completion
  • Drive capital projects planning and management for technical corporate facilities
  • Accountable for overall project delivery and coordination with project stakeholders such as EH&S, Sustainability, Procurement, Legal, Tax, Compliance, Finance teams
  • Meet with leadership from key project stakeholders to understand their business well enough to help teams define project parameters and take accountability for quality, cost and timely delivery
  • Manage teams of project managers, architects, design consultants, MEP consultants, contractors, subcontractors, IT/AV, strategic planning and facilities managers to ensure decisions are made at the appropriate level and Amazon's priorities are always the driving factor
  • Help drive successful site selection for new sites
  • Ensure appropriate resources are allocated to complete the projects in accordance with the strategy
  • Oversee the total portfolio of projects within your team to ensure timely completion, efficient use of resources and successful handover of space to end users
  • Guidance of design, including but not limited to specialty equipment and infrastructure needs, space-plans, finishes, etc.
  • Influence design guidelines for technical facilities, including minimum specifications, basis of design for various building systems, etc.

Requirements

  • 10+ years successful professional experience required in one or more of the following areas: construction or engineering project management, real estate development, or relevant architecture/design experience
  • Comfortable with legal terms and structures for standard commercial contracts and leases
  • Experience managing multiple projects across numerous sites, and regions
  • Keen understanding of sourcing/procurement, facilities operations, vendor management and customer service
  • Ability to communicate complex project execution strategy and plans clearly to internal and external stakeholders and lead diverse groups of staff and contractors

Nice-to-haves

  • BA or BS degree, OR alternative to a degree, an additional 10+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience in technical engineering or manufacturing
