About the position

The Technical Research Analyst position at the Kansas Department of Commerce is a full-time role focused on enhancing workforce programs through data analysis and reporting. The analyst will be responsible for collecting and analyzing current processes, policies, and procedures to foster continuous improvement. This role requires the formulation, testing, and creation of scripts using software applications such as DBEAVER, Python, SQL, and PostgreSQL to generate real-time reports and analyses from the KANSASWORKS.com database. The analyst will translate complex data into clear, understandable reports and presentations, ensuring that the information is accessible to stakeholders. In addition to data analysis, the Technical Research Analyst will develop methodologies, tools, and standards for data research, collection, analysis, and reporting. This includes ensuring compliance with federal requirements, agency policies, and professional standards. The analyst will collaborate with the RETAINWORKs program and technical staff to manage Data Understanding Agreements (DUA's), Memorandum of Understandings (MOU's), and Internal Review Board (IRB) processes related to the RETAIN grant. Responsibilities

  • Collect, research, analyze, interpret, and report using data within KANSASWORKS.com to communicate needs for improvement, best practices, and impact analysis for Workforce Service administered programs.
  • Formulate, test, and create scripts using software applications like DBEAVER, Python, SQL, and PostgreSQL to provide real-time reports and analysis using KANSASWORKS.com static database.
  • Translate data and formulate it into comprehensible reports and presentations.
  • Develop methodologies, tools, and standards for data research, collection, analysis, and reporting to ensure conformance with federal requirements, agency policies, and procedures, and professional standards.
  • Collaborate with the RETAINWORKs program and technical staff to manage Data Understanding Agreements (DUA's), Memorandum of Understandings (MOU's), and Internal Review Board (IRB) in relation to the RETAIN grant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, or computer science.
  • Experience with SQL and PostgreSQL.
  • Proficiency in Python and data analysis tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with KANSASWORKS.com preferred, but not required.
