About the position

The Technical Research Analyst position at Leidos involves conducting operations research and applying analytic techniques to military planning and decision-making processes. The role requires interaction with government personnel, preparation of briefings and technical reports, and the ability to analyze complex operational and national security issues. This position is designed for individuals with strong technical and analytical skills who can work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct operations research on modeling methods and analytic techniques for military planning and decision-making problems.
  • Prepare briefings and technical reports, and present findings to DoD and IC customers.
  • Interact routinely with Government personnel in meetings and seminars.
  • Employ advanced operations research methods to study complex operational and national security issues at the DOD policy level.
  • Perform technical work tasks in support of customer requirements, including meetings, seminars, and events.

Requirements

  • Masters Degree and 6+ years of direct work experience in Operations Research or related disciplines, or a Bachelors Degree and 8+ years of experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Strong technical analytic skills with familiarity in applying technical disciplines to complex processes.
  • Ability to work independently within a larger team context.
  • Excellent analytic, research, and writing skills for both technical and non-technical material.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Current Secret Clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret SCI security clearance after hiring.

Nice-to-haves

  • Additional coursework in advanced Operations Research, mathematics, statistics, or related disciplines.
  • Career interest in national security studies and international relations.
  • Familiarity with national security concepts and terminology.
  • Ability to model using Mathcad, Mathematica, or similar advanced mathematical modeling software.
  • Military background or experience.
