About the position

The Technical Sales & Application Engineer is responsible for selling and promoting products and services that require technical knowledge, particularly in the roll and engraving industry. This role involves bridging the gap between sales and engineering, utilizing strong interpersonal and technical skills to meet customer needs and drive sales. The position is based in Pulaski and requires a dynamic individual who can handle multiple responsibilities within a smaller company environment.

Responsibilities

  • Use technical knowledge of product offerings to support and build sales.
  • Confer with customers to assess potential application of company products or services and offer solutions that meet customer requirements or needs.
  • Collaborate with engineers and sales team to promote the sale of products/services/technical support.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain and demonstrate, to existing or potential customers, how and why products and services would best serve their needs.
  • Work with customers and production engineering to determine how products or services could be designed or modified to best accommodate the customer.
  • Recommend and/or propose changes in equipment, or use of materials, product or machinery to customers, documenting how such changes will result in cost reduction or operational improvement.
  • Plan and modify product configurations to meet customer needs.
  • Develop, prepare and present sales proposal/quotation to customer; secure or renew orders.
  • Provide technical training to clients and communicate customer feedback for future product development.
  • Diagnose problems with product or installed machinery and/or provide consultation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or Associate degree in Technology or Engineering with seven to ten years of experience, OR equivalent years of experience.
  • Strong CAD skills, with knowledge of AutoCAD or Solid Works.
  • Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability.
  • Effective oral, written and telephonic communication skills; interpersonal skills; leadership and computer literacy.
  • Active listening and negotiation skills; persuasiveness and ability to influence others; social perceptiveness.
  • High level of job and technical knowledge, organization, follow-through; effective management of time and resources.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in the roll and engraving industry or familiarity with it.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Successful track record in high performing companies where stretch goals are the norm.
