About the position

As a Technical Sales Engineer Associate at Contech Engineered Solutions, you will embark on a comprehensive training program designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field of sales engineering. This role is ideal for enthusiastic candidates who are eager to develop their technical and sales skills while working closely with experienced Sales Engineers. Throughout the training program, you will learn to identify, design, and implement solutions that meet customer needs, gaining valuable first-hand job experience in the process. The training program will involve a combination of classroom instruction and practical field experience. You will attend training sessions, observe seasoned professionals, and engage in hands-on projects and presentations. This immersive approach will prepare you for a future role as a Sales Engineer or Product Consultant. You will also have the opportunity to travel to various locations, including manufacturing plants and field installation sites, to gain a well-rounded perspective on marketing, sales, customer service, credit, and manufacturing. In addition to the training, you will actively participate in the sales process by accompanying Sales Engineers and Product Consultants on sales calls, presentations, and trade shows. You will be expected to adhere to established sales processes and practice your sales skills by reaching out to both existing and new accounts. Continuous learning is a key component of this role, and you will be encouraged to stay current by participating in educational opportunities, reading relevant publications, and engaging in networking activities. Periodic evaluations will be conducted to track your development and growth throughout the program.

Responsibilities

  • Follow and adhere to the Sales Engineer Associate training program.
  • Attend classroom training and observe experienced Sales Engineers/Product Consultants.
  • Create projects and presentations, and take assessments to confirm your progress.
  • Travel to different areas, including manufacturing plants, field installation sites, and Contech offices.
  • Observe the sales process by traveling with Sales Engineers and Product Consultants.
  • Attend sales calls, presentations, promotions, trade shows, and installations.
  • Adhere to established sales processes and practice sales skills by calling on existing and new accounts.
  • Participate in educational opportunities and stay current with sales and marketing publications.
  • Attend periodic evaluations to track development and growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, with a strong preference for Civil or Environmental focus.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prepare and review standard engineering documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, CRM software, and basic CAD.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel up to 50% of the time within assigned territory.
  • Willingness to relocate within the region upon successful completion of the training program.
