About the position

The Technical Sales Engineer position is part of Texas Instruments' FAST Development Program, specifically designed to prepare Sales & Applications team members for customer-oriented careers that combine technical skills with business perspectives. This program offers a comprehensive 7-month experience that includes three distinct rotations: Field Sales Office, Product Marketing, and Sales Operations. Each rotation is tailored to provide hands-on experience and insights into various aspects of the sales process, product life cycles, and customer relationship management. In the first rotation, participants will integrate with a local TI sales team, gaining first-hand experience of TI's sales process. This involves partnering with customers and internal teams to uncover and win opportunities, utilizing a unique virtual account system to navigate real-time and simulated environments. The second rotation focuses on product marketing, where participants will learn about the relationship between sales and specific product lines, including understanding product life cycles and marketing strategies. The final rotation provides exposure to sales operations, emphasizing pricing models, customer service, and negotiation strategies. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will transition into the role of Technical Sales Representatives (TSRs) on TI's Worldwide Sales & Applications team. TSRs will leverage their technical expertise and relationships with engineering teams to identify projects, manage leads, and develop plans for revenue growth. This role is pivotal in driving TI's business forward and requires a blend of technical acumen and strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the FAST Development Program, completing three rotations: Field Sales Office, Product Marketing, and Sales Operations.
  • Integrate with a local TI sales team to gain first-hand experience of TI's sales process.
  • Partner with customers and internal teams to uncover and win customer opportunities.
  • Utilize a virtual account system to learn how to find, define, and win opportunities.
  • Understand product life cycles and collaborate with product marketing to win at the customer.
  • Work with pricing and customer service teams to gain insights into pricing models and negotiation strategies.
  • Manage and quantify leads, and oversee the commercial aspects of customer relationships.
  • Develop, forecast, and monitor an annual plan for revenue growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 or higher.
  • Strong technical skills balanced with relationship-building capabilities.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams and collaborate across various functions.
  • Strong time management skills for on-time project delivery.
  • Proven ability to build strong, influential relationships.
