About the position

The Technical Sales Engineer II at Richardson RFPD is responsible for engaging with customers across Southern California to create demand for the company's products. This role involves building and maintaining influential relationships with customers, suppliers, and partners, while providing engineering and supply chain solutions tailored to customer needs. The position requires a strong understanding of Richardson RFPD's offerings and the ability to drive new opportunities and product selection within accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain influential relationships with customers, suppliers, and Richardson RFPD partners.
  • Create demand for Richardson RFPD products by proactively offering engineering and supply chain solutions.
  • Focus on demand creation and relationship management for complex, emerging, or underpenetrated prospects.
  • Match Richardson RFPD solutions to customer business needs.
  • Drive new opportunities and product selection within accounts using technical resources as needed.
  • Utilize distribution, rep, and supplier knowledge to grow market share and sales.
  • Initiate and schedule regular visits to customer facilities to sell Richardson RFPD's franchised lines and services.
  • Create selling opportunities through a planned discovery process and strategic approach.
  • Gain a solid understanding of customer needs and translate those needs into Richardson RFPD's requirements or opportunities.
  • Execute solution selling through knowledge of Richardson RFPD's supply chain solutions and design processes.
  • Grow profit and maximize margins by selling value-added, long-term solutions with an emphasis on demand creation and engineering.
  • Stay current on product knowledge and gain technical certifications as needed.
  • Attend supplier training events to keep up-to-date on product lines.
  • Maintain supplier databases and ensure design registration information is accurate.
  • Stay updated on current related technologies in the customer base and attend training as needed.
  • Guide others in resolving complex issues based on existing solutions and procedures.
  • Serve as an expert within the discipline and a resource for best practices on functional teams or projects.
  • Train and mentor junior staff.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a 4-year degree; or 8 years and an advanced degree; or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of the territory to be worked in.
  • Working industry knowledge.
  • Drive to succeed.
