About the position

The Technical Sales Engineer for Northern California is responsible for representing Seco Tools' comprehensive metal cutting solutions across various industries, including automotive, aerospace, and medical. This field-based role focuses on retaining and growing business with existing customers while generating new sales leads. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical aptitude and sales experience to meet revenue targets and enhance customer value.

Responsibilities

  • Retain and grow business with existing customers and generate sales from new customers.
  • Anticipate and understand customer needs, matching them with products to improve customer value and sales profit.
  • Pursue sales leads and visit existing and new customers of strategic importance.
  • Assess customer requirements and suggest appropriate products and services.
  • Respond to complex customer inquiries and negotiate prices and delivery times within limits of authority.
  • Conclude sales orders to meet revenue targets.
  • Collect and communicate relevant business and market intelligence to product and sales management.
  • Establish annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly sales plans and prioritize activities to meet/exceed targets.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in a technical, consultative, or solution-focused sales role.
  • Strong technical aptitude in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in cutting tools, metal cutting, or technical product sales.
  • CRM experience for maintaining and documenting sales activity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in distributor and end-user environments.
  • Strong territory sales skills.
