About the position

Mueller Water Products, the nation's leading manufacturer of flow control devices for the water and gas distribution industries, is seeking a Technical Sales Engineer for our Hydro Gate product/service line. This position is crucial to our Sales Support Team, where you will take full ownership of multiple projects simultaneously, overseeing their design and management from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will be motivated, goal-oriented, and adept at recognizing and solving engineering and logistical challenges while maintaining a strong focus on organization and customer service. This role reports directly to the Hydro Gate National Sales Manager. In this position, you will be responsible for engaging with both internal and external customers, ensuring effective communication across varying levels of education and expertise. You will need to make quick and confident decisions, demonstrating risk awareness and mitigation skills. The role requires a strong technical background, including a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) and proven competency with design software such as AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel, is essential, as is the ability to understand and manipulate pre-configured design calculations and interpret written specifications and structural/mechanical project plan drawings. Candidates who wish to distinguish themselves should ideally possess additional qualifications such as a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, a Professional Engineer (PE) license, or a Master's or Advanced Degree. Experience in a Lean manufacturing environment, knowledge of AWWA and water industry design principles, and familiarity with metal casting design, metal fabrications, welding codes, and concrete design will also be advantageous. This position offers flexibility in physical location, with a preference for candidates in the Chattanooga, TN, or Denver, CO areas. The primary work hours are Monday through Friday, with variations based on work demands. This is a salaried exempt position, meaning it does not qualify for overtime pay.

Responsibilities

Requirements
