About the position

The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales growth in specialty chemicals, particularly in biocides, emulsion polymerization surfactants, and EPA-registered Manufacturing Use Products (MUPs). This role involves strategic planning, market intelligence, key account management, and new business development across various industries, including cleaning products, oilfield and gas production, and personal care. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical knowledge and client relationships to expand the company's market presence and ensure regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy targeting core markets.
  • Conduct thorough market research and stay informed on industry trends and regulatory changes.
  • Build and sustain robust client relationships across diverse industries.
  • Identify and capture new business opportunities across targeted industries.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the specialty chemical portfolio.
  • Act as a knowledgeable resource on EPA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Engage closely with clients to assess their unique requirements and develop tailored solutions.
  • Lead accurate sales forecasting and analyze key performance metrics.
  • Partner with marketing, product management, and R&D teams to refine product strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Business, or a related field; an advanced degree or MBA is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in specialty chemicals sales with a proven track record.
  • Strong regulatory knowledge, especially regarding EPA compliance for MUPs.
  • Familiarity with key target markets including personal care, household and industrial cleaning, and water treatment.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and strategic communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and proficiency in CRM systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree or MBA in a relevant field.
  • Experience with sales forecasting tools and Microsoft Office.
