About the position

The Technical Sales Representative will be responsible for developing and expanding business within assigned territories, focusing on the industrial chemicals market for rubber and plastic industries. This role involves direct outside selling, managing client relationships, and implementing product strategies to enhance market reach and sales performance.

Responsibilities

  • Direct outside selling of industrial chemicals to rubber and/or plastic industries.
  • Incorporate feedback and input from customers, partners, and in-house teams on product strategy and finding ways to expand product market reach.
  • Manage a portfolio of accounts to achieve long-term success.
  • Develop positive relationships with clients.
  • Act as the point of contact and handle customers' individual needs.
  • Generate new business using existing and potential customer networks.
  • Resolve conflicts and provide solutions to customers in a timely manner.
  • Report out on the status of accounts and transactions.
  • Set and track sales account targets, aligned with company objectives.
  • Monitor sales (e.g. quarterly sales results and annual forecasts).
  • Suggest actions to improve sales performance and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Develop and implement product strategies consistent with company vision.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in Sales/Marketing, Engineering, Business, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of sales experience, preferably in chemical industry, with strong customer contact involvement.
  • Strong sales aptitude and communication skills.
  • Excellent internal and external communication, problem solving and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and strong organizational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
  • Strong negotiation, selling and customer skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Creative thinking skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Rubber compounding experience.
