About the position

The Technical Sales Specialist for Gene Synthesis and Cloning at Thermo Fisher Scientific is a field-based role focused on driving sales and establishing relationships within the scientific community. This position covers a territory that includes Southern and Northern California, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona, and aims to achieve sales quotas while ensuring customer satisfaction. The role involves collaboration with various teams and requires a strong understanding of molecular biology and related technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve or exceed sales quota and objectives while maintaining profitability and ensuring 100% customer happiness.
  • Establish and maintain communication with customers to introduce new products, expand sales, and explore potential leads.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Marketing, Technical Support, Customer Support, and Production teams.
  • Work independently and alongside a team of account managers to penetrate the territory and drive sales revenue.
  • Lead generation, team selling with the regional sales team, and moving opportunities through the sales cycle.
  • Facilitate communication between the customer, the regional sales team, and the business segment.
  • Conduct forecasting and territory analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Cell Biology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field; or equivalent knowledge and industry/functional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar marketing, research, or sales role.
  • Proficiency in the language and technology of molecular biology, gene synthesis, and/or cloning, and protein expression.
  • Excellent technical skills and experience in Cell and Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, and/or a related field.
  • Strong communication, analytical, project management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to navigate accounts in broad geography efficiently and advance the large order sales process consistently.
  • High motivation and energy level to develop new business and the ability to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Business development skills and cross-functional team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in sales within the biotechnology sector.
