About the position

The Technical Sales Specialist for Gene Synthesis and Cloning at Thermo Fisher Scientific is a remote field position responsible for driving sales growth in the Biosciences Division. This role involves establishing relationships within the scientific community, managing the sales funnel, and achieving sales targets while ensuring customer satisfaction. The position covers a territory that includes Southern and Northern California, Colorado, Utah, and Arizona, requiring a blend of independent work and collaboration with account managers and other teams.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve or exceed sales quota and objectives while maintaining profitability and ensuring 100% customer happiness.
  • Establish and maintain communication with customers to introduce new products, expand sales, and explore potential leads.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Marketing, Technical Support, Customer Support, and Production teams.
  • Work independently and alongside a team of account managers to penetrate the territory and drive sales revenue.
  • Lead generation, team selling with the regional sales team, and moving opportunities through the sales cycle.
  • Facilitate communication between the customer, the regional sales team, and the business segment.
  • Conduct forecasting and territory analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Cell Biology, Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related field; or equivalent knowledge and industry/functional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar marketing, research, or sales role.
  • Proficiency in the language and technology of molecular biology, gene synthesis, and/or cloning, and protein expression.
  • Excellent technical skills and experience in Cell and Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, and/or a related field.
  • Strong communication, analytical, project management, and planning skills.
  • Ability to navigate accounts in broad geography efficiently and advance the large order sales process consistently.
  • High motivation and energy level to develop new business and the ability to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Business development skills and cross-functional team leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in technical sales within the life sciences sector.
