About the position

The position of Scrum Master at Scientific Research Corporation involves leading Agile processes and facilitating the development of project backlogs for a team of developers. The Scrum Master will be responsible for ongoing duties that include conducting Agile meetings such as daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and increment planning sessions. This role requires a proactive approach to process improvement, ensuring that Agile methodologies are effectively implemented and adhered to within the team. The Scrum Master will work closely with team leads and subject matter experts to assist in task breakdowns and backlog grooming, ensuring that the team is aligned and focused on delivering high-quality results. In addition to facilitating Agile processes, the Scrum Master will develop reports, briefs, and other documentation necessary for stakeholders. This includes enforcing Agile processes within the team and following up with individual contributors and leads when deviations occur. The role requires strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively liaise with product owners, technical leads, and customers. The Scrum Master must be a self-starter, capable of leading and executing process improvement initiatives while fostering a collaborative team environment. This position is hybrid, allowing for telework flexibility, and requires a Secret security clearance due to the nature of the work with the U.S. government. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of direct experience as a Scrum Master or in a similar role, with a solid understanding of Agile methodologies and frameworks, particularly the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).

Responsibilities

  • Perform ongoing lead scrum master duties for 1-3 Developers
  • Lead continual process improvement efforts for Agile processes
  • Work with team leads and subject matter experts to create backlogs and assist with task breakdowns
  • Assist with the development and documentation of agile processes and workflows
  • Develop reports, briefs, and other accompanying documentation needed for stakeholders
  • Enforce processes within the team and follow up with individual contributors and leads when deviations to the process occur

Requirements

  • Two (2) or more years direct experience as a Scrum Master or Scale Agile Framework (SAFe) Agilist
  • Experience facilitating efforts to build, groom, and define project backlog tasking
  • Experience facilitating Agile meetings, including stand ups, sprint review, increment planning, etc.
  • Ability to liaise with product owners, technical leads, and customers to understand, prioritize and track team activities and deliverables
  • Self-starter who can lead and execute process improvement efforts
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with senior management and technical staff
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Must have a Secret clearance

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or other technical discipline
  • Knowledge of Test Planning, Test Management, Test Execution, and automation
  • Knowledge of Cyber Security policies and processes in the Navy
  • Experience working with technical Requirements on military systems
  • Ability to provide Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), Agile and Scrum training and coaching
  • Experience with Jupiter, TiMRA, Jira (Naval Lift), or Advana / Qlik
  • Fluent with Microsoft Office 365 (Planner, SharePoint) or Atlassian (Jira, Confluence) suites
  • Self-starter who can support and continually improve processes within multiple agile teams
