About the position

The Technical Scrum Master will lead the agile scrum process for the Analytical Instrumentation Group at Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc., focusing on delivering Business Intelligence and Analytics products. This role involves coaching teams on scrum methodology, coordinating with various scrum teams, and ensuring effective feature delivery in production. The Scrum Master will also promote the adoption of SAFe practices and enhance team collaboration to achieve excellence in technical workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the qualities of a Lean-Agile Leader by adopting the principles and practices of SAFe.
  • Supports the team in adopting SAFe Core Values and implementing SAFe practices.
  • Ensures the rules of an Agile Team are lightweight, yet rigorously implemented.
  • Reinforces the rules of Scrum, Built-In Quality practices from Extreme Programming (XP), and Work in Process (WIP) limits from Kanban.
  • Improves the quality of outputs and meets the Definition of Done (DoD) to promote SAFe quality practices.
  • Cultivates a collaborative and skilled Agile team to achieve excellence in technical workmanship.
  • Supports the timely completion of tasks through collaboration and open communication.
  • Seeks management intervention for personnel issues only when internal team approaches have been unsuccessful.
  • Coordinates inter-team collaboration and ensures the team operates effectively on the train.
  • Cultivates the widespread adoption of SAFe throughout the organization by providing guidance to individuals and teams unfamiliar with agile practices.
  • Contributes to the Scrum Master Community of Practice and other company-wide efforts.
  • Collaborates with other Scrum Masters and team members to enhance the overall development Value Stream and promote organizational effectiveness.
  • Assists the team in effective preparation for ART activities, including PI Planning, System Demos, and Inspect and Adapt.
  • Supervises various metrics that track the team's Quality, Productivity, Predictability, and Innovation behaviors.
  • Assesses the Scrum Maturity of the team and coaches them to higher levels of maturity at a sustainable pace.
  • Anticipates needs and problems in the development cycle.
  • Promotes a collaborative team environment that cultivates experimentation, creativity, and innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in computer science or equivalent degree with 6+ years of proven experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Business Intelligence.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience as a Scrum Master in an Agile environment, coordinating the collaboration of multiple teams.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in handling projects using BI and cloud technologies such as Power BI, Tableau, AWS, SQL server, etc.
  • Experience in driving implementation and reporting of Non-Functional Requirements (NFR - Performance, Cost, etc.).
  • Agile Scrum Certifications (i.e. SAFe SSM, CSM, PMP-ACP, etc.).
  • Experience in working and handling Atlassian suite tools.

  • Strong curiosity about process automation and keeping informed about the latest developments in agile approaches and development methods.
