About the position

The Technical Service & Applications Development Engineer is responsible for supporting the growth and development of various PPD North American businesses by providing technical assistance and innovation to customers on part design, tooling, processing, and materials selection utilizing PPD products. This role involves developing product knowledge, resolving customer complaints, promoting PPD products, and establishing technical relationships with key personnel at customer sites.

Responsibilities

  • Develop PPD product knowledge to support new product initiatives and industry advancements.
  • Convey customer needs and requirements through call reports and activity communications.
  • Assist in resolution of customer complaints and support new product developments.
  • Promote PPD products and establish best practices for part design and processing requirements.
  • Ensure feedback on resolution or requests for information is communicated back to the customer.
  • Develop and establish technical relationships with key personnel at customers.
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, R&D, quality, and production operations to support customer activities.
  • Capture market intelligence at customers relating to new projects and competitor activities.
  • Implement and promote company policy and safety measures during work and at the customer level.

Requirements

  • 4-year Engineering degree (Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical) or equivalent technical experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in polymer processing in a technical service or processing engineer position.
  • Experience in plastics design, processing equipment, and tooling design for various applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal, technical writing, and presenting.
  • Strong project management skills to manage and track multiple customer projects.
  • Familiar with OEM automotive specifications and material requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with specific resin knowledge (e.g., TPV, PVC, TPO).
  • Familiarity with non-automotive industries such as building & construction, electronics, and medical.
