About the position

The Technical Service & Applications Development Engineer is responsible for supporting the growth and development of Mitsubishi Chemical Performance Polymers' North American businesses. This role involves providing technical assistance and innovation to customers regarding part design, tooling, processing, and materials selection, utilizing various PPD products. The engineer will engage in customer interactions to promote products, resolve complaints, and establish best practices in processing techniques such as injection molding and extrusion.

Responsibilities

  • Develop PPD product knowledge to support new product initiatives and industry advancements.
  • Convey customer needs and requirements through call reports and program files.
  • Assist in resolution of customer complaints and support new product developments.
  • Promote PPD products and establish best practices for part design and processing.
  • Ensure feedback on resolution or requests for information is communicated back to the customer.
  • Develop technical relationships with key personnel at customer sites.
  • Work closely with sales, marketing, R&D, quality, and production operations to support customer activities.
  • Capture market intelligence relating to new projects and competitor activities.
  • Implement and promote company policy regarding safety measures.

Requirements

  • 4-year Engineering degree (Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical) or equivalent technical experience.
  • 5+ years' experience in polymer processing in a technical service or processing engineer position.
  • Experience with plastics design, processing equipment, and tooling design for various applications.
  • Excellent communication skills in verbal, technical writing, and presenting.
  • Strong project management skills to manage multiple customer projects.
  • Familiarity with OEM automotive specifications and material requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with specific resin knowledge (e.g., TPV, PVC, TPO).
  • Familiarity with non-automotive industries such as building & construction, electronics, and medical.
