About the position

The Technical Service & Applications Development Engineer at Mitsubishi Chemical Performance Polymers is responsible for providing technical assistance and innovation to customers in North America. This role focuses on part design, tooling, processing, and materials selection, utilizing various PPD products to support business growth and development. The engineer will work closely with customers and internal teams to promote products, resolve complaints, and establish best practices in processing techniques such as injection molding and extrusion.

Responsibilities

• Develop PPD product knowledge to support new product initiatives and industry advancements.
• Convey customer needs and requirements through call reports and activity communications.
• Assist in resolution of customer complaints and support new product developments.
• Promote PPD products and establish best practices for part design and processing requirements.
• Ensure feedback on resolution or requests for information is communicated back to the customer.
• Develop and establish technical relationships with key personnel at customers.
• Work closely with sales, marketing, R&D, quality, and production operations to support customer activities.
• Capture market intelligence at customers relating to new projects and competitor activities.
• Implement and promote company policy and safety measures during work and at the customer level.

Requirements

• 4-year Engineering degree (Polymer, Chemical, Mechanical) or equivalent technical experience.
• 5+ years' experience in polymer processing in a technical service or processing engineer position.
• Experience with plastics design, processing equipment, and tooling design for various applications.
• Customer-oriented with strong communication skills for suggestions and improvements.
• Excellent verbal and technical writing skills for creating reports and product guidelines.
• Ability to recommend products for new applications based on design and end-use requirements.
• Strong project management skills to manage multiple customer projects effectively.
• Commitment to company core values and acting as a role model.

Nice-to-haves

• Familiarity with OEM automotive specifications and material requirements.
• Experience in non-automotive industries such as building & construction, electronics, and medical.
