About the position

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious student to join our R&D team for summer 2025! As the Technical Service Intern for Global & Regional Accounts, you will play a crucial role in supporting new product development and creating customer-valued solutions. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and preparing food formulations and prototypes for various customer and business initiatives on a pilot plant and lab bench top scale, all while adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices. You will also perform research-related duties as needed or assigned, support internal and external customer requests, execute analytical testing, and document and prepare technical reports with guidance from your manager. In this role, you will operate laboratory equipment safely and with minimal direct supervision to support project needs. Maintaining a clean and safe work environment is essential, and you will be expected to follow guidelines for good housekeeping and safety. You will manage work projects to meet timelines and deliverables, analyze and understand data, results, and scientific literature to advance projects, and work collaboratively with Technical Service team members and other internal colleagues to meet target objectives. Additionally, you will perform laboratory experiments, conduct data analysis, and interpret results to make recommendations to the project team, supporting the overall project goals. Your responsibilities will also include presenting prototypes, project status updates, and outcomes to the team and key stakeholders, as well as making presentations and writing technical reports. This internship will provide you with valuable hands-on experience in the food science field, allowing you to contribute to innovative projects and solutions.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Progress towards a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food or Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 preferred.
  • Must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
  • Ability to work safely in a laboratory environment.
  • Ability to work 40 hours per week during the summer internship term.
  • Reliable transportation required to go to and from facility each work day.
  • Experience with hands-on food concept development with laboratory and/or pilot plant equipment is a plus.
  • Knowledge of common food processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactions preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills.
