About the position
The Technical Services Chemist I for Wood Products at Arxada is responsible for providing analytical testing and development support for wood business customers, as well as research and development (R&D) and technical services projects. This role involves managing product and sample testing, contributing to method development, and troubleshooting product chemistry issues, all while ensuring the delivery of high-quality analytical services.
Responsibilities
- Provides analytical testing and development for wood business customers, R&D, and Technical Services projects.
- Performs analyses of actives and additives for customer samples and manufacturing support.
- Conducts routine and specific product testing in chromatography, titration, and wet chemistry.
- Develops, optimizes, validates, and transfers analytical methods with minimal supervision.
- Analyzes and interprets testing results to prepare reports and presentations.
- Manages sample login, data entry, and reporting using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
- Responsible for calibration and routine maintenance of lab instruments.
Requirements
- BS in Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry with 3-5 years of experience in analytical measurement and instrumental analysis in the chemical or biotechnology industry.
- Good working knowledge in chromatography, titration, and wet chemistry with hands-on experience in HPLC/UPLC, GC, and potentiometric titration.
- Ability to perform various tests and adapt techniques for a broad range of chemicals and formulations.
- Familiarity with LIMS, Empower, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Ability to prepare analytical reports and present scientific information clearly and concisely.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality control procedures and appropriate statistical methods.
- Excellent organization, data analysis, technical writing, and communication skills.
- Proven teamwork and collaboration skills.
