About The Position

The Technical Services Support Specialist I position at Howard County involves providing intermediate-level technical support for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) development, maintenance, and support, particularly for the Police/911 Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency with GIS desktop applications and databases.
• Basic understanding of ArcGIS Enterprise components.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's Degree in Geography or Technology related field.
• 5+ years' prior experience with GIS applications.
• Familiarity with enterprise geodatabases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Experience using CAD Systems.
• Experience using FME or other ETL tools.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain best practices and workflows for updating the CAD mapping system components.
• Provide basic support and troubleshooting for ArcGIS Enterprise.
• Organize, update, and maintain spatial datasets within the ArcGIS Enterprise environment.
• Perform quality control of spatial datasets including street centerline and address points.
• Run and analyze error reports, make corrections, and generate exports for Next Gen 911 provider.
• Submit NENA standard GIS data to the Maryland Department of Information Technology.
• Share CAD data with intercounty agencies upon request.
• Participate in statewide and regional Next Gen 911 user groups.
• Create indoor mapping workflows and GIS products for various systems.
• Maintain core spatial datasets and create new spatial datasets as needed.
