About the position

The Technical Specialist II at JR Automation Technologies LLC plays a crucial role in collaborating with various teams, including Build, Engineering, and Machining/Fabrication. This position focuses on ensuring manufacturability during design reviews, mentoring Level 1 associates, and serving as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to optimize procurement activities. The specialist is responsible for coordinating project expectations, managing job releases to Machining and Fabrication, and tracking project timelines and defects. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and effective communication to promote a teamwork culture and maintain high standards of quality and organization.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in Design Review discussions to ensure manufacturability aligns with design, cost, and delivery targets.
  • Mentors and coaches Level 1 associates, demonstrating effective leadership.
  • Assumes a contingency position to recommend resources when Level 1 individuals are unavailable.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) regarding outsourced capabilities and supports procurement activities.
  • Develops and sets goals for team members, coordinating project expectations.
  • Releases jobs to Machining and Fabrication to facilitate scheduling and procurement.
  • Coordinates unscheduled work to ensure on-time project delivery.
  • Provides technical answers related to manufacturability and interprets technical data for cost options.
  • Tracks status and progress of piece parts and buyouts associated with projects.
  • Tracks defects and participates in Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA).
  • Interacts with Design Engineering and contributes to Design Reviews and technical activities.
  • Assists in executing ISO/Quality standards.
  • Promotes a teamwork culture within the machinist group.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization of the assigned work area.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent; technical/vocational/college preferred.
  • Five years of experience with machining and best practices; hands-on knowledge of assembling; customer service experience.
  • Training in machining, print/drawing interpretation, GD&T, 2-D and 3D CAD, and Microsoft Office Products.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; negotiation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO/Quality standards.
