About the position

The Technical Staff position in Radar Systems at MIT Lincoln Laboratory involves prototyping and developing advanced sensors for space surveillance. The role requires collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams to innovate and demonstrate concepts using real-world data and state-of-the-art sensors. Candidates will engage in solving complex engineering challenges and contribute to national security through cutting-edge technology development.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop and demonstrate innovative sensor concepts.
  • Prototype next-generation sensors for space surveillance.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to solve technical problems.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a relevant technical field; an MS with at least 5 years of relevant experience is acceptable.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve broad technical problems and complex engineering challenges.
  • Proficiency in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and develop strong working relationships.
  • Familiarity with C/C++, MATLAB, Python, or other scientific programming languages.
  • Understanding of signal processing concepts and image formation techniques is desirable.
  • Experience in radar, optics, or remote-sensing system development is desirable.
  • Experience developing advanced algorithms for sensors is desirable; experience implementing algorithms on operational/real-time platforms is advantageous.
  • Experience leveraging, developing, and testing AI and/or machine learning algorithms for scientific or engineering purposes is desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in radar signal processing algorithm development.
  • Experience in automated high-resolution radar image processing algorithm development.
  • Experience in AI-based target characterization algorithm development.
