About the position

The Technical Support Specialist (Level 3) at Codeworks is responsible for providing expert technical support across hardware, software, and network products. This role focuses on diagnosing, implementing, and maintaining IT solutions while leading IT projects to enhance productivity and operational efficiency for end-users. The position requires daily onsite attendance in Detroit, MI, and emphasizes strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide both onsite and remote technical support, diagnosing and resolving complex hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Develop, document, and implement procedures and solutions for advanced troubleshooting.
  • Administer and support client-server applications and automated data processing systems.
  • Lead and coordinate project teams to ensure technical specifications, process standards, and security protocols are consistently met.
  • Design and implement operational procedures for IT technicians, emphasizing quality assurance and security.
  • Serve as a liaison among technical staff, management, users, and vendors, managing service standards and ensuring security compliance.
  • Diagnose LAN connectivity issues, maintain local server backup systems, and ensure network and server functionality.
  • Set up print servers, support network hardware, and troubleshoot telecom equipment.
  • Enforce security standards, including virus and spyware remediation.
  • Participate in relevant technical and client-specific training as required.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in IT or technical support, with an emphasis on troubleshooting and customer service.
  • Proven expertise in diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues.
  • Experience leading IT projects, managing teams, and improving processes.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 21 semester credits in Computer Science, Information Systems, Networking, or a related field.
  • Alternatively, an associate degree in a relevant field with two years of IT technician experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve complex operational issues.
  • Effective leadership and team coordination abilities, with a focus on documentation and quality assurance.
