About the position

The Technical Support Engineer will be part of Software AG's Global Support team, providing essential technical support to customers utilizing Software AG technology in mission-critical business implementations. This role focuses on ensuring customer satisfaction through prompt and professional assistance, problem-solving, and collaboration with various teams to address technical issues effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional, courteous, and prompt technical support to customers and internal staff.
  • Research technical issues using problem-analysis techniques and knowledge base research.
  • Demonstrate initiative in acquiring and improving product skills on Software AG products and platforms.
  • Develop experience by installing, testing, and using software products, and attending training classes.
  • Help improve the customer self-service knowledgebase by creating and publishing technical articles.
  • Set up specialized technical environments to reproduce problems as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent working experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to find solutions for complex issues.
  • Team player with a commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Proficient in English, both written and verbal; knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
  • Knowledge of z/OS or Windows/Linux operating systems.
  • Familiarity with one or more DBMS, such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, or Adabas.
  • Proven diagnostic and debugging skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and recognize potential impacts.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of Software AG products is a strong plus.
