About the position

The Technical Support Engineer for Performance Management will play a crucial role in a global B2B high-tech company, focusing on managing and resolving complex issues related to performance and instance availability within the ServiceNow platform. This hybrid position requires both technical expertise and strong customer service skills, as the engineer will act as the last point of escalation within the technical support department.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the last point of escalation within the technical support department.
  • Remediate outages or enhance performance on the ServiceNow platform using tools like BigData, Splunk, and Grafana.
  • Tune databases, add indexes, maintain tables and data, and recommend better-formed queries based on execution plans.
  • Review Javascript and Java application code to identify and fix performance concerns.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Development, Infrastructure, Networking, Hardware) to reproduce performance issues and conduct root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Strong personal commitment to quality and customer service.
  • Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle).
  • Java experience with the ability to read and understand object-oriented design principles and memory management.
  • Experience in one or more scripting languages, preferably JavaScript, with knowledge of Python or Perl as a plus.
  • Basic Unix/Linux experience.
  • Experience diagnosing performance degradation, including explain plans and database tuning.
  • Strong teamwork skills with excellent communication abilities.
