About the position

Verkada is seeking a Technical Support Engineer to join our team in San Mateo, CA. As a part of the largest cloud-based B2B physical security platform company in the world, you will play a crucial role in supporting our growing base of enterprise customers. This position involves working with our entire line of cloud-managed building security products, which includes video security cameras, access control systems, environmental sensors, alarms, workplace solutions, and intercoms. You will be responsible for troubleshooting complex technical issues, educating customers on system installation and configuration, and collaborating with engineering teams to identify and resolve bugs. Your contributions will directly impact product improvement and customer satisfaction, making this a vital role within our organization. In this position, you will work both independently and collaboratively, owning customer issues from creation to resolution. You will communicate technical matters effectively to customers, both orally and in writing, ensuring they understand the solutions provided. Additionally, you will stay up to date on the latest products and industry technologies, which will help you provide the best practice design, installation, and configuration expertise to our enterprise customers. Writing technical knowledge base articles and whitepapers will also be part of your responsibilities, contributing to the overall knowledge and resources available to both customers and internal teams. Responsibilities

  • Full-stack troubleshooting of the entire Verkada platform including network, hardware, software, and electrical issues
  • Provide best practice design, installation, and configuration expertise to enterprise customers
  • Communicate technical matters to customers both orally and in writing
  • Own customer issues from creation to resolution
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to test new products and identify bugs
  • Write technical knowledge base articles and whitepapers
  • Staying up to date on the latest products and industry technologies
  • Build tools and processes that will scale

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related technical discipline: Networking, Telecommunications, Systems Administration, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Cybersecurity from an accredited university
  • Coursework with a focus on computer networking, Linux, electronics, computer systems, Python or other coding languages is a plus
  • Ability to communicate complex technical matters both orally and in writing
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Industry certifications are a plus: CCNP, CCNA, CCENT, CCDA, CWNP, CWNA, MCSE, CEH, Network+, Security+, A+
