About the position

The Technical Support Engineer position at Hilti is designed to ensure that both internal and external customers receive high-quality answers to their technical inquiries regarding the use and application of Hilti Anchor and Direct Fastening (DF) products. This role involves creating engineering product submittals that assist field personnel in facilitating the sale of these key products. The Technical Support Engineer will provide technical sales support primarily through telephone and email communications, ensuring that all customer interactions are handled with professionalism and expertise. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for meeting assigned deadlines for various project assignments while remaining current on building codes relevant to the application of Hilti products. This includes understanding and applying the necessary approvals and listings for Hilti Anchor and DF products, and effectively communicating this information to customers in both verbal and written formats. The engineer will also be tasked with composing letters that provide engineering support regarding the application of Hilti products for external customers. Additionally, the Technical Support Engineer will collect customer data and provide leads to Field Engineers to maximize coverage and penetration in the field. They will support Field Engineers by providing corporate support and relevant product information, and will complete defined projects such as presentations, intranet development, and small testing projects to assist Hilti Field Engineers and other sales personnel. The role may also involve providing territory coverage for Field Engineers as agreed upon with management, while ensuring that Hilti is protected from liability exposure through sound engineering judgment. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical sales support through telephone and email related business.
  • Create engineering product submittals for field personnel to facilitate the sale of key products.
  • Meet assigned deadlines for project assignments.
  • Remain current in the knowledge of building codes relative to the application of Hilti Anchor and DF products.
  • Understand and apply approvals and listings for Hilti Anchor and DF products correctly in verbal and written communication with customers.
  • Provide engineering support through the composition of letters regarding the application of Hilti products for external customers.
  • Collect customer data and provide leads to Field Engineers in order to maximize coverage and penetration in the field.
  • Provide Field Engineers with corporate support and relevant product information.
  • Complete defined projects (e.g. presentation and intranet development, small testing projects, and other engineering assignments) in order to help support the activities of Hilti Field Engineers and other sales' personnel.
  • Provide Field Engineer territory coverage as agreed with MO Technical Service management.
  • Protect Hilti from liability exposure through utilization of sound engineering judgment.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology required - Civil, Architectural, or Mechanical discipline preferred.
  • E.I.T. preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, contractors, and Hilti personnel through verbal and written response.
  • Ability to organize and utilize large amounts of reference information both in hardcopy and electronic files.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems.
  • Ability to function effectively on teams.
  • Aptitude to read and understand blueprints, construction specifications, and documents.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
