About the position

The Performance Support Engineer is responsible for managing and resolving complex issues within the Technical Support team, focusing on performance and instance availability. This role serves as the last point of escalation and involves mentoring junior team members. It requires strong technical and interpersonal skills, as it is customer-facing and may require working outside of normal business hours.

Responsibilities

• Manage and resolve challenging technical issues for the Technical Support team.
• Serve as the last point of escalation within the technical support department.
• Mentor junior team members in various technologies.
• Quickly gain an understanding of the ServiceNow platform.
• Provide excellent customer service and support to high-value customer administrators and developers.
• Work outside of normal business hours as needed.

Requirements

• Strong SQL experience
• Java experience
• Advanced Unix/Linux experience
• Experience with relational databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle)
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues
• Strong personal commitment to quality and customer service
• Excellent time management and communication skills
• Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience writing or debugging Object Oriented code (Java preferred)
• Experience with dynamic HTML components: AJAX, JavaScript, AngularJS, CSS, XML, HTML, XHTML
• Deep understanding of JavaScript
• Experience with Web Services (SOAP, REST)
• Familiarity with Eclipse IDE
• Understanding of ITSM, ITIL, and/or CMDB.
