About the position

The Technical & Sustainability Purchasing Manager at Saint-Gobain is responsible for leading the purchasing strategy for Specialty Grains and Powders (SGP) related to capital projects. This role involves coordinating with the North American CAPEX team to ensure compliance with best practices and internal controls while driving financial benefits through competitive bidding and negotiations. The position also focuses on developing and implementing sourcing strategies that align with the company's sustainability goals, particularly in reducing Scope 3 CO2 emissions. The manager will work closely with cross-functional teams and provide training on ISO purchasing procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the purchasing strategy for procurement of capital equipment and services in coordination with the North American CAPEX team.
  • Ensure compliance with SG Best Practices and internal control requirements for capital projects.
  • Negotiate applicable CAPEX contracts for North American sites, working with legal teams as necessary.
  • Assist in developing and implementing a sourcing strategy that aligns with the company's sustainability roadmap.
  • Support Scope 3 reporting requirements and metrics for SGP globally.
  • Educate and train team members on sustainability procurement best practices.
  • Analyze North American spend for raw materials and develop action plans for multi-source solutions.
  • Lead technical sourcing efforts to identify and qualify potential suppliers for critical materials.
  • Develop, maintain, and train plant personnel on common North American ISO Purchasing Procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or other technical degree.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a related role within a manufacturing environment.
  • 2-5 years of experience in technical/capital purchasing within a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated results.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to drive projects to completion.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
