About the position

Intellisense Systems, Inc. is seeking a Technical Vice President, Chief Mechanical Designer to lead mechanical engineering efforts in the design, analysis, and testing of advanced avionics and other products for aerospace and defense applications. The role involves overseeing multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring compliance with performance standards, and mentoring junior engineers. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical design, creativity, and hands-on experience in product development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as the lead responsible Mechanical Engineer on a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Design, analyze, and test avionics and other products with a focus on production transition and performance.
  • Lead design trade studies and make recommendations for design and program decisions.
  • Ensure project compliance with Intellisense practices and performance standards.
  • Train and mentor other Mechanical Engineers in generating key deliverables.
  • Contribute to proposals and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 20+ years of design experience in product development or R&D focused on aerospace or military systems.
  • Experience leading mechanical design and development of avionic systems deployed on airborne platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in solid modeling using SolidWorks, Pro-E, or CATIA.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and production processes for aerospace or military electronics.
  • Ability to produce part and assembly manufacturing drawings with GD&T understanding.
  • Experience with mechanical and thermal simulation packages (SolidWorks, ANSYS).
  • Broad knowledge of manufacturing processes including machining, rapid prototyping, and injection molding.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and excellent technical writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with MIL-STD testing (MIL-STD-810, DO-160, MIL-STD-461).
  • Experience in leading multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Machine shop/electromechanical skills for quick prototype testing and verification.
  • Strong understanding of physics and a desire to learn how things work.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain a Security Clearance.
