About the position

The Technical Writer (CMMC) at Summit 7 Systems is responsible for developing and maintaining documentation for IT projects, focusing on compliance with Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) standards. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to create clear and concise documentation that meets regulatory standards and supports both internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and edit technical documentation, including policies, procedures, manuals, and guides focused on IT and cybersecurity best practices, with an emphasis on CMMC compliance.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, compliance, cybersecurity, and project managers, to gather detailed requirements and understand complex information.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and accurate documentation that meets regulatory standards and is accessible to a broad audience.
  • Review and revise existing documentation to ensure it reflects the latest compliance requirements and industry best practices.
  • Create and maintain templates for technical documentation to ensure consistency across documents.
  • Collaborate with the compliance and cybersecurity teams to monitor changes in CMMC requirements and update documentation accordingly.
  • Manage multiple projects and prioritize documentation needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conduct regular audits of documentation to identify gaps and ensure compliance with CMMC standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Communications, IT, Cybersecurity, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing, preferably in IT or cybersecurity.
  • Strong knowledge of CMMC compliance requirements and an understanding of cybersecurity principles.
  • Ability to create clear, concise, and structured documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent research skills and the ability to work independently to understand complex IT concepts.
  • Familiarity with documentation tools such as Confluence, MadCap Flare, or Adobe FrameMaker.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certifications in CMMC, cybersecurity, or technical writing.
  • Knowledge of additional regulatory standards, such as NIST and DFARS.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and working in a SaaS environment.
