About the position

The Technical Writer will be responsible for creating clear and concise documentation for various technical topics, collaborating with internal teams to understand product requirements, and maintaining an organized document library. This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and quality of all technical documentation, including user guides and disaster recovery procedures.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, developers, IT operations, and other technical staff to understand product documentation needs.
• Create and maintain clear, accurate, and comprehensive technical documentation, including user guides and installation guides.
• Write user interface text, online help, developer guides, and tutorials for diverse audiences.
• Analyze existing content for reuse and single-sourcing opportunities to improve efficiency.
• Create and maintain a well-structured information architecture for the document library.
• Establish and manage a document library for technical documentation and disaster recovery plans.
• Implement a version control system to track changes and maintain document history.
• Design and implement an approval process for new and updated documents.
• Regularly review and update existing documentation to reflect changes in technology and processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in technical writing of software documentation with a strong portfolio.
• Strong understanding of technical concepts and ability to simplify complex information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Experience in setting up and managing a document library, including version control and approval processes.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and documentation tools.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart)
• Experience with Manual software or similar
• Familiarity with programming languages or scripting
• Experience in the IT or software development industry
• Familiarity with disaster recovery principles and best practices.
