About the position

The Technical Writer-Editor position at the Department of the Army Integrated Logistics Support Center (ILSC) involves developing requirements and scopes for equipment technical publications efforts. The incumbent will establish plans and schedules to achieve the objectives of the publications program, ensuring that all publications are in accordance with military specifications. This role requires directing and controlling the publication verification and validation program both at contractor facilities and in the field. The Technical Writer-Editor will coordinate with various military commands and offices, including the Combined Arms Support Command (CASCOM), the Logistics Data Analysis Center (LDAC), and the Equipment Publications Control Office (EPCO). The position also includes administering publication start of work meetings, conducting in-process reviews, and leading Integrated Project Teams. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for training interns and junior team members, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to contribute effectively to the team. This position is temporary, with a promotion potential of one year, and is classified under the GS-12 pay scale. The role is full-time and requires the incumbent to be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. The job is located in Warren, MI, and while it is not a remote position, telework may be available as determined by agency policy. The position may require up to 25% travel, and relocation expenses will not be reimbursed. The selected candidate will be evaluated based on their specialized experience, which includes planning activities during the publication process and translating complex operational or maintenance information into user-friendly instructional manuals. The role demands a high level of attention to detail, reasoning skills, and proficiency in writing, particularly in the context of vehicle maintenance and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Attention to detail and strong reasoning skills.
  • Proficient writing skills, particularly in technical documentation.
