About the position

The Technical Writer/Editor II position at Tanaq Support Services involves providing editorial and writing support to public health Federal Government customers. This hybrid remote role requires collaboration with various teams to create and edit educational materials, reports, and web content, ensuring clarity and scientific accuracy. The role emphasizes the importance of effective communication and project management in delivering high-quality content.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the collection and organization of technical and scientific information required for the preparation of materials.
  • Provide a full range of editorial support, including serving as expert copyeditor on materials created for customers and partners.
  • Write and edit government customer content, including scientific and technical infection control content, training resources, web content, and reports.
  • Review partner-created content to ensure technical accuracy, correct grammar, appropriate citations, and alignment with government messaging and guidance.
  • Collaborate with communications, policy, and scientific staff to create educational materials, talking points, promotional materials, and online content.
  • Participate in collaborative efforts to create graphics, video, and images to convey information.
  • Ensure that all materials follow best practices for health education, risk communication, and plain language.
  • Ensure scientific and technical consistency of customer and partner messages and materials.
  • Assist government customer scientific staff in responding to requests for information and presentations by creating messaging and handouts.
  • Contribute to web, collateral, messaging, graphics, and project management, participating in meetings to ensure consistent messaging.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as editor and in communications in a public health setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience writing in plain language for non-technical or non-scientific audiences.
  • Ability to collaborate with others and be a team player.
  • Graphic and multimedia skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Microsoft Excel and SharePoint.
  • Superior multi-tasking and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize assignments.
  • Project management skills.
  • Previous experience with public health Federal Government agency programs, policies, procedures, and communication activities preferred.
  • Ability to obtain a government clearance.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship.
