About the position
By Light is hiring a Technical Writer/Editor of Proposals. The role involves proposal writing on responses to Federal Government IT, Cloud, and AI-related requirements, concurrent proposal section and volume development, including technical proposals, White Papers, Requests for Information (RFIs)/Sources Sought, and other marketing materials. The candidate will develop draft outlines for proposal documents based on Federal Government solicitations, including Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and Requests for Information (RFIs) and Sources Sought requests. The position requires producing structured written content of both technical and non-technical nature while working in a highly collaborative environment to collect information and support strategy development. The candidate should be able to lead or support technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviews and translate technical information into proposal content. Additionally, the role involves augmenting individual and teamwork with strong research capabilities using open source tools for customer and opportunity-specific analysis, assisting in producing other marketing collateral in support of sales activities, developing graphic concepts to communicate technical and management processes, and ensuring grammatical correctness and compliance of all written materials. The candidate will also incorporate section reviews from other team members and resolve conflicts quickly, as well as edit, standardize, and revise material prepared by other staff members.
Responsibilities
- Proposal writing on responses to Federal Government IT, Cloud, and AI-related requirements.
- Develop draft outlines for proposal documents based on Federal Government solicitations.
- Produce structured written content of a technical and non-technical nature.
- Work in a highly collaborative environment to collect information and support strategy development.
- Lead or support technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviews and translate technical information into proposal content.
- Augment individual and teamwork with strong research capabilities using open source tools for customer and opportunity specific analysis.
- Assist in producing other marketing collateral in support of sales activities.
- Develop graphic concepts to communicate technical and management processes, working closely with Graphics Specialist.
- Ensure grammatical correctness and compliance of all written materials.
- Incorporate section reviews from other members of the team and resolve conflicts quickly.
- Edit, standardize, and revise material prepared by other staff members.
Requirements
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong ability to write clearly and concisely with correct grammar and punctuation.
- Familiarity with Shipley model (color team process) of proposal development.
- Ability to work with a variety of people in a deadline-driven, high-accountability, team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail required.
- Ability to continually learn and adapt in a constantly evolving technology environment.
- Understanding of Federal Government procurement market is a requirement.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years work experience as a Proposal Writer for U.S. Federal Government customers.
- Experience working in SharePoint a plus.
- Experience in selling IT services or other IT offerings preferred.
