About the position

The Senior Technical Writer/Editor position at Amentum involves leading a team to create, edit, and maintain user documentation for the Cyber Security & Information Assurance (CSIA) Support Services office. The role requires close collaboration with technical personnel and management to produce high-quality documentation that meets industry and client standards. This position is critical in transforming complex technical information into user-friendly documentation and ensuring effective communication within the CSIA community.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of writers to create, edit, and maintain user documentation including training guides, user guides, and technical manuals.
• Provide overall documentation support to management and technical staff within the CSIA Community.
• Prepare documentation by applying industry and client standards, establishing proper formats, and reviewing draft materials.
• Create, implement, and track production of designed documents.
• Communicate effectively with technical personnel to write and maintain high-quality documentation.
• Plan, write, edit, and revise technical documents including user manuals and product specifications.
• Assess and analyze versatile audiences to tailor documentation accordingly.
• Create state-of-the-art technical documents such as API Developer Guides and Integration Guides.
• Develop client aids like online demos, videos, and educational guidelines.
• Transform complex documentation into simple concepts for end-users.
• Evaluate user feedback to enhance documentation usability.
• Work as an editor to ensure fluency in training documentation throughout the team.
• Analyze training metrics and customer feedback to align with future training investments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business or related field.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in editing narrative and graphical products for defense and commercial companies.
• Experience using various word processing, spreadsheet, and graphical-art applications for documentation.
• Proven ability to create and deliver complex system/software developmental documentation packages.
• Extensive experience with Military Standards such as MIL-HDBK-310, MIL-STD-882, and others.
• Active TOP SECRET US Government Clearance.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with the Army CIO/G6 programmatic requirement.
• Demonstrated ability in Microsoft systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Past experience working in C5ISR and CSIA.
