About the position

The Technical Writer/Editor at KAPS Solutions will support the Command Support Division at NGA by reviewing and editing draft materials to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to style guidelines. This role requires a strong background in technical writing and editing, particularly within the DoD and Intelligence Community, and involves collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance the quality of documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Review draft material and correct grammar, word usage, spelling, style, format, punctuation, logic, and organization errors.
  • Ensure that all edits adhere to prescribed grammar, style, and formatting guidelines.
  • Provide guidance to authors to help generate comprehensive and relevant material.
  • Review portion marks and classification banners on draft materials for consistency.
  • Process and disseminate materials in hardcopy, softcopy, and web formats.
  • Attend editor and staff meetings regularly.
  • Communicate work status, problems, requirements, and concerns clearly with team members, managers, and customers.
  • Participate in meetings with customers and authors to exchange information and provide updates.
  • Support the office and division by taking on special assignments or ad hoc taskings as necessary.
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite to create, review, maintain, and edit documents.
  • Assist in developing and conducting training for Agency personnel on business processes and editing.
  • Organize and support various NGA, IC, and DoD joint meetings, forums, and events.

Requirements

  • 11+ years of total relevant experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in analyzing and editing correspondence documents.
  • Ability to identify errors in grammar, word usage, and punctuation.
  • Familiarity with style guides such as Chicago, Associated Press, and/or in-house guidance.
  • Organizational skills to meet internal NGA style and formatting guidelines.
  • Ability to reorganize and edit documents for content, readability, and logic.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 24 months demonstrated experience designing and delivering briefings.
  • Experience presenting complex information to varied audiences, including senior leaders.
