About the position

The Technical Writer/Editor position at Tellus Solutions involves a critical role in the documentation process for various products. The successful candidate will work closely with design engineers to capture and integrate essential customer content into various forms of documentation. This includes authoring product manuals, quick start guides, data sheets, reference materials, and other user documentation that is vital for the end-users of the products. The role requires collaboration with R&D Project Managers to establish learning product plans for new products, ensuring that all documentation aligns with the product development lifecycle. Additionally, the Technical Writer/Editor will coordinate with other team members to publish learning product content on the client website as needed, ensuring that all materials are accessible and up-to-date. The position is structured as a contract role, requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week, with an 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday. The work environment is in-person at the company's location in Budd Lake, NJ. The role demands a high level of attention to detail and the ability to pivot quickly based on rapidly changing product requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong multitasking abilities, allowing them to manage multiple product projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality in their documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with design engineers to capture and integrate critical customer content.
  • Authors product manuals, quick start guides, data sheets, reference materials, and other user documentation.
  • Works with R&D Project Managers to establish learning product plans for new products.
  • Coordinates with others to publish learning products content to the client website as needed.

Requirements

  • Science or engineering BS/BA degree with a background in English or communications.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in technical writing.
  • In-depth knowledge of MS Word and Office suite of tools.
  • Ability to proofread and edit documents.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Strong team player who can work closely with design engineers.
  • Experience with electrical engineering terms, ideally as it relates to electronic test and measurement.
  • Ability to author product manuals, quick start guides, data sheets, reference materials, and other user documentation.
  • Ability to pivot quickly based on rapidly changing product requirements.
  • Ability to multitask on multiple product projects.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, physics, or mechanical engineering.
  • Experience with Madcap|Flare technical writing software.
  • Understanding of electrical fundamentals and electronic instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with power supplies and electronic measurement devices.
