About the position

CACI is seeking a Technical Writer/Editor for its team located in Albuquerque, NM. In this role, you will coordinate the development and improvement of technical manuals in collaboration with technical experts, both local and remote. Your primary responsibilities will include revising or writing standardized materials for reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and other related technical and administrative publications. These documents will focus on work methods and procedures, as well as the installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment. You will be responsible for organizing material and completing writing assignments according to established standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Additionally, you will maintain records and files of your work and revisions, select appropriate photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate the material, and assist in laying out material for publication, duplication, and distribution. As a Technical Writer/Editor, you will participate in documentation quality improvement efforts and collaborate with various technical, administrative, CAD, and logistics support groups within the facility. You will receive assignments and technical information from a supervisor, which may include notes or manuals containing operating procedures and details. You may also observe production, developmental, or experimental activities to expand or verify the provided operating procedures and details. Your role will also involve supporting the development of technical standards and methods for photographing, cataloging, using, and archiving unique DOD and commercial equipment. This includes photographing equipment installations, maintenance, and ancillary equipment, as well as editing photos to ensure quality for manuals. You will review CAD drawings for part number information and updates required for inclusion in the documentation. Accessing manufacturers' catalogs, drawings, and other data related to the operation, maintenance, and service of equipment will be part of your responsibilities. You may have access to blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedures, and production sequences and details. Additionally, you will support the development of technical desktop publication and quality standards, including company work instructions, style sheets, and style guides, and assist in the development of templates. Communication with the Technical Editor will be essential, as you will work with the Editor to support backup editing functions with the technical writing staff as needed.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • An Active Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
  • Bachelor's degree with 7 years of Technical Writing experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in two or more of the following software: Adobe FrameMaker, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, Adobe Pro, Microsoft Word, Autodesk Vault Viewer.
